Privacy policy
The short version: this site has no accounts, no forms and no advertising trackers, so there is very little to collect.
What we collect
Very little. NZ Visa Guide is a publication, not a service. There is no login, no application form, no newsletter signup and no shopping cart on this site, so there is no point at which you give us your name, your passport details, your nationality or your immigration history — and we would not want them.
Analytics
We use a self-hosted analytics instance to count page views and understand which guides people find useful. It is configured to be privacy-preserving:
- No cookies are set for analytics.
- No cross-site tracking, no advertising identifiers, and no data sold or shared with advertisers.
- IP addresses are used only to derive a coarse country-level location and are not retained against a profile.
- The data is aggregate: which pages were read, roughly from where, on what kind of device. It cannot identify you.
We host the analytics ourselves rather than using a third-party advertising platform specifically so that reading about immigration on this site does not follow you around the internet.
Server logs
Our web server keeps standard access logs (request time, URL, response code, user agent) for a short period for security and debugging. They are not used to build profiles of readers.
External links
We link out heavily to Immigration New Zealand and other official sources, because you should always confirm the detail there. Once you follow a link off this site, that site's privacy policy applies, not ours.
Your rights
The New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 gives you rights to access and correct personal information an organisation holds about you. Because we do not collect personal information from readers, in practice we hold none to release or correct — but if you believe otherwise, contact us at [email protected] and we will look.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects readers, the change and its date will appear here. The “last updated” date at the top of this page is authoritative.
